Never clean stained glass with Windex or other harsh cleaners!!
I produce stained glass art in the same manner as artisans hundreds of years ago. Solder naturally tarnishes over time and deposits a cloudy film on the glass. If you see a cloudiness on the glass, use a clean piece of paper towel to buff it off whenever necessary. Buff each section of glass until it's sparkling!
Stained glass needs to periodically be cleaned using car wax. I use Brazilian Gold Carnauba Wax to clean and seal each piece prior to delivery. About once every 6 months, apply a small amount of wax to the entire surface and spread evenly with a soft cloth. Continue rubbing gently, focusing on the solder lines until they are clean. You will see a black residue on your cloth; keep changing the cloth until no more black is coming off the metal. When all the wax is rubbed in, use a clean paper towel to buff the glass until it's sparkling. This treatment should last 6 months - 1 year depending on exposure and humidity.
